Kristof Z. Markovics is an internationally working photographer and filmmaker, based in Copenhagen, Denmark, born and raised in Hungary.
He studied Photojournalism at the center of National Association of Hungarian Journalists in Budapest. Besides that he worked as a freelancer press photographer for couple of independent Hungarian news sites before.
His specific areas are press, documentary and portrait photography. Kristof has worked for numerous international companies abroad, such as cruise ship photographer for Hamburg-based company Cruisevision GMBH in cooperation with TUI Cruises working on board of cruise ship Mein Schiff 4 between 2019-2020. During his contract Kristof has sailed and photographed in the Mediterranean and North Atlantic regions.
He has been living in Denmark for more than 8 years. He studied Multimedia Design and Communication in Erhvervsakademiet Lillebælt and following graduation Kristof has participated in numerous Danish film courses and workshops. At the meantime he was working for several film production companies in camera departments as well as director on his own film projects.
He is a freelancer correspondent press photographer assigned in the Nordics for one of world's leading news bureau Nurphoto Agency, also works on his long-term photo and film project about the daily lives of the Nordic sea rescuers, while he manages his film production company, Phaeton Nordics.
As a photographer He was nominated in Hungary's highly acclaimed Hemzo Award in 2021, and one of his photograph 'Fishermen of Istanbul' was exhibited in a group photo exhibition at Chania International Photo Festival, Greece in 2022. Moreover Kristof was officially selected for 'Photo of Year' with one of its press photo "Don't Harm Our Teachers' in the internationally-known Hungarian Press Photo Contest 2023.
He is also known for the award-winning and acclaimed short movie "Memoirs of Dorete" (Doretes Øjeblikke) and "Dear Lise" (Kære Lise) with more than 15 nominations and wins both in several Danish and international film festivals worldwide.
Since Kristof is an extremely curious, flexible and energetic person, right now he is working on his own editorial photo projects in parallel with press, portrait and corporate requests as well.
